Description

The new Field Cultivator Air Drill from Great Plains is a high-productivity solution for High Plains farmers who plant large acreages with a conventional tillage system. By combining a Great Plains Field Cultivator with proven, reliable Great Plains 00 Series Drill Openers, this unique machine allows operators to till and seed at the same time with the same tool, eliminating the need for an extra man and tractor during the seeding process.

This combination of tillage and seeding operations sets the Field Cultivator Air Drill apart from other air drill products, as seed is directly placed into moist, freshly-tilled soil for quick, uniform emergence.

The Field Cultivator Air Drill’s base design is an 8544 Great Plains Field Cultivator, featuring the Max-Mix™ shank pattern. On an effective 7-inch spacing, the Max-Mix pattern, followed by a seedbed conditioner reel, creates the perfect seedbed while eliminating weeds and uniformly mixing soil, residue, and fertilizer (if applying). Great Plains’ exclusive 00 Series openers then accomplish optimum seed-to-soil contact. The implement couples to a large-capacity air cart for uniform delivery of seed and fertilizer.

Field Cultivator Air Drill Features

00 Series Opener: Proven, reliable Great Plains 00 Series openers provide perfect seed-to-soil contact and quick, uniform emergence by precisely placing seed in moist, freshly-tilled soil.
Choose Your Shank & Sweeps: The heavy-duty K-flex shanks (right) have 185 lbs. of point trip force. The spring-loaded magnum shanks (left) have 205 lbs. of point trip force. Both shank styles are available in minimum draft or flat lower shanks. Sweeps are 11" wings with hard surfacing.
Combine Tillage And Seeding: This highly-productive implement combines tillage and seeding to reduce time, fuel, and tractor depreciation hours.
Finishing Reel: Following the sweeps, a 12" finishing reel firms the soil ahead of the openers to create an excellent seedbed.
Floating Hitch: The single-pole floating hitch allows enhanced flexibility for consistent cultivation, regardless of terrain. It also permits tighter turns without interference with the tractor.
Hydraulic Weight Transfer: Hydraulically transfer weight from the center section of the machine to the wings for even seeding depth across the entire drill.
Large-Capacity Cart: The Cultivator Air Drill implement couples to a 350 bu., 2-bin air cart for reliable, uniform delivery of seed and fertilizer to the implement. Air drill cart sold separately.
Max-Mix™ Shank Pattern: The Max-Mix shank design evenly spreads residue and incorporates fertilizer or manure for even distribution.
Press Wheel Options: Options include 2"x13" smooth and 3"x13" center rib.
Optional Knock-On Sweeps: Quick-change system for installation and removal of sweeps. Once installed, the sweeps can be changed without the use of power tools.
Optional Blockage Monitor: Monitors seed flow for optimum performance.
Optional Double-Shoot Seed/Fertilizer: Allows seed and fertilizer to be placed in opener seed tube, or fertilizer directed to first two rows of field cultivator sweeps.
Optional Dry Fertilizer: Fertilizer delivered in first two rows of Max-Mix pattern. The next two rows mixes fertilizer across all rows.
